I took some photos for the Canadian Business for Social Responsibility
yesterday on one of their "Seeing is Believing" tours of Vancouver's
downtown east side. My photos were published in today's edition of the

France is a fabulous actor. She wanted something a little glam for her new headshot... eh bien, France, te voilà servi! OK, if your french is not so hot, you're going to have to babel fish that. If you don't know what babel fish is, you'll just have to google it. If you don't know how to google, how did you get here? semicolon right parenthesis
We also wanted to do a Young Mom shot, so we found a nice garden background in a location that will remain a secret to protect the innocent.
We wrapped up the shoot at France's apartment. I saw this cool painting on the wall. I got France to stand up on some cushions on top of a little chaise so that she would be in front of the painting and then I backed up onto her adjacent balcony and shot her with a long lens. France's boyfriend Moe is a painter and it turns out this painting is one of his... the casting directors may never know!
Aslam Husain just graduated from UBC's BFA Acting program. A bit weary of the same studio looks he kept seeing over and over again, Aslam came to me looking for something fresh that would set him apart from the crowd and make the casting directors take notice. We started shooting late in the afternoon and finished at twilight.
UBC's 2008 BFA Acting class knows how to throw a party! This one had a prom theme. I miss these guys already.

Patrick is an actor/writer/director who recently finished his MFA in Directing at UBC. Shortly after our shoot he relocated to Toronto where he has assumed his duties as Artistic Director of a fledging theatre company and will simultaneously pursue a lucrative career in acting. Dr. Randy Patterson is a psychologist who runs the Changeways clinic out by Vancouver General Hospital. He is publishing a new book and receiving all sorts of awards for his illuminating work on depression. He needed some good photos. We started by the Marina next to Randy's home.
I like the metaphor of the path and its connection with the name of Randy's clinic (deep stuff, hey?).
At one point the seawall near Randy's place arcs out into the ocean... I got randy to sit on a bench and... wham, bob's your uncle. good foto!
Jamie and Michael were married on a beautiful windy Saturday at a local Kingdom Hall a couple of weeks ago. I've almost finished building their proof gallery and thought I'd share a few shots from the day.
We just managed to squeeze it in! I've wanted to do an engagement shoot with Jamie and Michael ever since they booked me to shoot their wedding (it's next Saturday!), but Jamie was busy being an Opera singer in Chicago and Michael was busy being a concert pianist out and about Canada so it was a little tricky finding a moment to get them in front of the camera together. The planets came into alignment yesterday and we kicked off the long weekend with a sunset shoot around Stanley Park.

Roxanne called to say I've been cast in a small role on Impact!, a 4 part TV mini-series. I'll have a cameo as the French Reporter. My
costume fitting is on Monday and I'm scheduled to shoot in Victoria on
Vancouver Island at the end of May.
